e-mail from Raul Longoria:
I have already gotten a little bit of feedback from the producer about documents the genealogist has uncovered in Spain. One of those involved testimony given by Alonso de Pontiga in a civil case in 1593 in which he states that his father was Pedro de Longoria. The lawsuit gives the heirs of Pedro de Longoria as his widow Francisca Melendez de Valdes, Lorenzo de Longoria, Pedro de Longoria (a cleric), Alonso de la Pontiga, and Lope de Lanio (in right of his wife Catalina Suarez, who must have been a daughter of the elder Pedro de Longoria). Note that the son Pedro de Longoria is identified as a cleric; thus, he could not be the same person as Pedro Suarez de Longoria. It may be that we (through Jose Jaime's efforts) incorrectly identified Pedro Suarez de Longoria as a brother of Alonso de Pontiga. The elder Pedro de Longoria may have had another son named Friar Fernando de Miranda who was a monk. Hopefully we will know more with additional research by the genealogist. Keep in mind that all this new information I have is preliminary and subject to change.
