he is mentioned In the book by Alessio Robles called (Francisco de Urdinola y el Norte de la Nueva Espana)
I also found mention of Pedro Suarez de Longoria in a book Im reading called Women of the Inquisition by Mary Giles. This is what it says, in reference to an inquisition trial, the case was heard on february 26 by the inquisitors Gutierre Bernardo joined by senior canon Alonso Lopez, the high court judges Pedro Suarez de Longoria and Don Marcos Guerro as consultants , and the magistrate Antonio de Morga.

I do not think the Longorias were Jews.
Arrived in Mexico in 1603 to take the position of Oidor en la Cancilleria de la Ciudad de Mexico
Pedro Suarez de Longoria and Lorenzo Suarez de Longoria were the first Longorias to travel to the New World. Both departed Spain for the New World on June 16, 1603. Pedro Suarez de Longoria was coming to New Spain to assume his position as “oidor de la Audencia de Mexico”, or magistrate for the High Court in Mexico. Lorenzo Suarez de Longoria was only about 11 years old at the time and was the nephew of Pedro Suarez de Longoria. Lorenzo’s father was Alonzo de la Pontiga; Alonso de la Pontiga was the brother of Pedro Suaurez de Longoria,
1. Pedro Suarez de Longoria ended up in Mazapil and Married Maria de Urinola y Lois daughter of the famous Governor Francisco de Urdinola.
2. He had a son named Joseph who according to this information was born about around 1628 to 1630 who was a vecino of Santa Ollala in 1666 under the jurisdiction of Mazapil.
3. Joseph also called Jusepe marriage records indicate he was a vecino de Saltillo when he married Elena Flores de Aldaco in 1655. I guess this Joseph moved to the area where her family was from.

Jose Longoria Source:
However, from other sources I have some information (not verified yet) that our Pero Xuarez de Longoria was in Mexico (Las Indias) prior to 1603. That, because he may have been one of the jurists that tried Urdinola prior to 1603. So, Pero may have returned to Spain to be named Oydor and may have had to agree to bring Lorenzo along.

That is a lot of speculation, but we have to start somewhere.

Also, I just got a book published in 2004 about Mazapil that indicates that "Don Lorenzo de Longoria" lived in Mazapil. And in a listing of "Foreign" residents a Juan Longoria also shows up but as an "Espanol." This same Juan Longoria, along with one other "soldado," volunteered to go to nearby RocaMonte to fight some Chichimeca indians who had killed 7 persons from that mining outpost. Although there is no indication in the book, he may have been killed in battle.
Otherwise, some of us may be his descendants.

This same book indicates that Urdinola was abscent from Mazapil for more than six months on a trip to Mexico City. I speculate that he was in Mexico seeking
the help of Pero to resolve the case of murder (of his wife) filed against him in Guadalajara.

If I can get additional copies of the book, I get one for each of you. It should be available in Zacatecas, Zacatecas.

Everyone including Lorenzo had a connection with two sites, the museum (where Urdinola resided for some time) and the Bonanza Hacienda where Urdinola and the Longorias lived. Incidently, Urdinola established a "Mule" trail to cross the mountain range (actually some very high hills) from Bonanza to Mazapil. Otherwise, they would have had to travel West to Cedros then East to Mazapil.

If "Don" Lorenzo stayed anywhere, it would have been in Uridinola's home where there was protection from the indians. There wasn't much to Mazapil then. He would have had to go where Pedro his uncle went. After all he was still a lad then.

There is a tunnel below the house (the museum) which was used to escape from the attacking indians. Legend has it that Urdinola had a tunnel build all the way to Cedros.

I have photos of the church, the foundry and the main house in Bonanza somewhere. If not, I can go take new ones. Photos of the Museum can be had anytime.

I will look through the book tonight to locate all information on Lorenzo.

Note that in the book, Lorenzo holds the title of "Don" or "Sir" while living in Mazapil. This title was not taken lightly then and very few hold that designation in the book. It may have come from his father's position in Spain (with the church), his relationship to Pedro, his own activities, but more than likely, his ongoing relationship with Urdinola.

Urdinola, was the governor, a land baron, the first winemaker, a livestock baron, owned a number gold mines, and had several haciendas. And, because his son Francisco de Urdinola el mozo (he is listed in the book) died, the two families seem to have become one. Following the resolution of the murder case against Urdinola (by Pedro), Lorenzo, Pedro and the Urdinolas seem to be in the same place almost at the same time.

In the book, in a few land transactions and governmental activites, Lorenzo serves as an official witness. These transactions must have required his participation in order to acquire legitimacy.
