Alonso was the son-in-law of Diego Rodriguez Sosa but is confused as his son in many genealogies as his identity as the son of Joseph Lumbroso was concealed by the family as was the secret jewish marriage of his parents. Alonso and his sister Beatriz were reared by the family of their mother Maria Rafaela who died soon after Alonso's birth.
