Miguel1 de las Casas was the father of Bernabe de las Casas who participated in the Juan de Oñate expedition to New México. Bernabe is one of the early settlers of Nuevo León. The origin of this family goes back to Carlos de las Casas who was a member of the court of Doña Blanca de Castilla. When Doña Blanca married Louis VII of France in 1224, Carlos went to France with Doña Blanca. In 1248 two of his sons came back to Spain during the reign of Fernando, the Saint. The brothers Guillen de las Casas and Bartolome fought under the command of Fernando during the siege and capture of Seville from the moslems. Guillen de las Casas, the the royal treasurer of Andalusia, was the grandfather of Guillen III who married Leonor Gonzalez de Medina. Guillen de las Casas Gonzalez married Madame Isabel de Creux in France. He was also the royal treasurer of Andalusia in 1350. Guillen de las Casas Creux, lord of Donadio and Gomez Cardeña, 24th mayor of Seville and royal treasurer, married Maria Fernandez de Fuents. Their issue was Alonso de las Casas Fernandez, mayor of the villague of Priego in 1409. He married Leonor Fernandez Marmolejo (daughter of Diego Hurtado de Mendoza and Leonor Fernandez Marmolejo). They had four sons and a daughter: (1) Francisco who was the father of Bartolome de las Casas-the illustrious bishop of Chiapas at the time of the Conquest of Mexico; (2) Pedro, lord of La Palma; (3) Juan, lord of Guevar; Isabel who was the matriarc of the counts of Ureña and dukes of Osuna; (4) Guillen de las Casas Hurtado married Leonor Gonzalez de Guzman and they were the parents of Alonso de las Casas Gonzalez. He married Beatriz Maraver de Segarra. He fought against the moslems in the battle of Las Lomas where he was killed in 1483. Alonso and Beatriz were the parents of Diego and Guillen de las Casas. Guillen was the lord of the Canary Islands. He married Ines Ponce de León and Beatriz de Herrera.
